Code Like a Girl! Coding by Design

Log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

If we teach differently to girls who think differently, they can change the world. Programming courses too often involve textbook exercises, robotics, rockets, or race cars. But computer science isn’t just for CS majors. Programming involves patient problem-solving, creativity, design, and collaboration, areas in which girls have typically excelled. Experience an innovative new approach to teaching programming that focuses on design first, and iterative prototyping. In this workshop, we’ll take an idea from design to coding using a design-first coding approach. We’ll create a prototype of an app that is relevant to your age group and subject area that uses code and algorithmic thinking to empower kids to express their creativity visually.
