Inquiry as a Way of Knowing

Inquiry, viewed as a 21st century learning process, begins with compelling questions. Students interrogate information and experience from different perspectives, propose their own “theories” for making sense of a phenomenon, determine ways to collect data and find information, think critically about their findings, express their understanding of concepts in meaningful ways, and reflect on the process and content of their learning. Faculty from Mid-Pacific share aspects of the inquiry process in four classrooms: preschool, kindergarten, a multiage class, and fifth grade.
